Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal have announced that their creative but controversial Augment Your Pre-Order for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been cancelled. This comes after heavy backlash from gamers and their Deus Ex community.
The pre-order program was created to enable gamers to choose their own rewards which mirrors the in-game mechanics, by a tier system. Having taken in the feedback, Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal changed their tactics on the pre-order.
“We really understand and appreciate the passion for Deus Ex that the fans have shown here,”
“Know that all of us, both at Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal, share that passion for this franchise.”
– David Anfossi, Studio Head at Eidos-Montréal.
Now anyone pre-orders the day one edition of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will receive all the associated content, the release date will also not change now and is set at February 23rd, 2016. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is available to purchase on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
