Location: You are guided to this area as part of the main story line via the Sheikah Slate.

Treasure Chests Rewards: Traveler’s Bow

The first Shrine introduces you to the mini dungeons who have been placed throughout the game world. The Magnesis Rune allows you to move certain metal objects to form bridges, open doors and remove obstacles.

Once you have descended into the Shrine, walk over to the Sheikah Slate pedestal. Once examined, you will unlock the Magnesis Rune.  Use your new ability on one of the two metal plates in the centre of the room, and you will unlock the passage to the next area of the Shrine. After going through an underground passage, walk up the stairs to face a wall with several bricks that can be moved with Magnesis. Simply lift them out to open the way to the next puzzle.

Defeat the enemy that stands in your way, and walk across the metal plate to the column at the centre of this area. The next gap cannot be jumped over, so you will need to lift the plate you previously walked across in order to proceed. Finally, you simply need to open the doors using Magnesis to reach the final room.

To complete the dungeon, simply walk up to the blue aura and examine it. This will break the barrier, and you will be given a Spirit Orb by the Shrine’s guardian. After a brief cut scene, you will be transported back to the Great Plateau. In case you missed it, a treasure chest which contains a Traveler’s Bow can be lifted with Magnesis from a platform on the left hand side of the final room.

Location: North of Mount Hylia. You will need Cold Resistance and Magnesis in order to reach this shrine.

The easiest way to obtain this status effect is to cook 5 Spicy Peppers at once. You will then receive Spicy Sauteed Peppers, a food item which when eaten induces Cold Resistance for approximately twelve minutes.

Completion Rewards: Cryonis Rune, 1 Spirit Orb.

Treasure Chests Rewards: Traveler’s Spear

This Shrine gives you the Cryonis Rune, which allows you to create blocks of ice on a body of water. It can be used to move platforms, act as a climbable surface and bring submerged chests up to the surface. Using the rune a second time will allow you to destroy an ice block that has been created.

Once you have descended into the Shrine, walk over to the Sheikah Slate pedestal. Once examined, you will unlock the Cryonis Rune. Next, walk toward the nearest pool and create a block of ice. Doing this will allow you to climb up to the previously inaccessible corridor to the next room, where a gate prevents you from progressing any further. In order to get past this obstacle, simply place a block of ice under the gate, which will raise the barrier and allow you to reach the third area of the Shrine.

In order to get past the enemy, you will need to use an ice block to move it into attacking range, then simply vanquish it in whichever method you see fit. Before you go to the next area, be sure to create an ice block on the left hand side. Doing this will allow you reach a Traveler’s Spear. To finish off this Shrine, simply place an ice block under either side of the metal plate which is floating in the pool. This will create a ramp which leads of the throne.

Simply activate it like you did in the first Shrine, and you will earn your next Spirit Orb.

Location: South of Mount Hylia.

Completion Rewards: Stasis Rune, 1 Spirit Orb.

Treasure Chests Rewards: Traveler’s Shield

This Shrine gives you the Stasis Rune, which allows you to stop the time flow of moving objects for a short period of time. It can be used to prevent repeating obstacles from starting over, or freeze a rotating platform so it can be crossed safely.

For the third time, walk over to the Sheikah Slate pedestal once you are in the shrine. Once examined, you will unlock the Stasis Rune. Walk over to the rotating platform, and use your new rune on the cog to stop it’s movement when it is horizontally flat. Doing this will allow you to cross over to the next section of the Shrine.

The next part consists of a chute where a boulder will fall down it at repeated intervals. To prevent a fatal ending for our brave hero, run up the chute and use the power of your new rune to stop time just as it is about to hit you. Now you can simply walk past the boulder, provided that you leave before time restarts once again. Once you are at the platform, simply head left to go to the final area of the Shrine. If you want to get the Traveler’s Shield, simply go straight ahead instead of turning left, and you will reach a platform with a chest that contains the desired item.

The final area is probably the hardest to complete, as a boulder rests in your way and there is no other way to cross. To solve this puzzle, pick up the Iron Sledgehammer that is leaning up against one of the walls and equip it as your active weapon. Next, you will need to use the Stasis Rune to stop time around the boulder, and hit it several times with your equipped weapon. Doing this will create momentum, which will fire the boulder forward when the effect of the Stasis Rune runs out.

Now, all that you need to do is examine the force field around the throne, and you will earn the third Spirit Orb.

Location: East of the Temple of Time. In the middle of a set of ruins guarded by laser wielding Guardians.

Completion Rewards: Remote Bomb Rune, 1 Spirit Orb.

Treasure Chests Rewards: Amber, Traveler’s Claymore

This Shrine gives you the Remote Bomb Rune, which allows you to create a bomb to destroy breakable elements in the environment or kill enemies from a distance. You can create a cube or sphere shaped bomb, depending on the situation that you require.

For the final time in this area, walk over to the Sheikah Slate pedestal once you are in the shrine. Once examined, you will unlock the Remote Bomb Rune. Blow a hole in the cracked floor to open the passage forward, and if you want the hidden Traveler’s Claymore, use a bomb on the cracked blocks to the right of the newly formed opening. When you are down in the hole, climb up the ladder at the end of the room to progress to the next area.

In the second room, jump onto the floating platform and when you reach the other side, throw a bomb towards the cracked blocks to open the way forward. Walk up the stairs and you will enter the final room of the Shrine. Drop a round bomb into the circular hole and it will fall onto a piston styled launching device. When the bomb is fired into the air, detonate it near the cracked blocks to solve this final puzzle. If you stand on the piston device at the fair end of the room, you will be launched to a platform which holds a chest containing an Amber.

To reach the throne, simply climb up the ladder and walk through the now open passageway created by your round bomb. Examine the blue force field around the throne, and you will earn the fourth and final Spirit Orb. Once you are back in the Great Plateau, follow the old man’s advice by travelling to the Temple of Time.

When you have arrived at the Temple of Time, approach the Goddess Statue, and make the choice of an expanded Stamina Wheel, or another Heart Container to expand your maximum health for the cost of the four Spirit Orbs you collected.

Ascend to the top of the ruined temple, and approach the Old Man. As a reward, you will now earn the coveted Paraglider. After the cut scenes that explain the backstory of the game, you can now travel to the rest of Hyrule by gliding down to the land below.
