With Pokemon Go dominating the app store download charts on both android and IOS devices, players from all over the world are going out on the search to become the ultimate Pokemon Trainer. But with the games release it is actually doing quite a lot of things for you as a player than what you may think. Here we will cover five things the game does for you as a player whilst you are out and about.
1: Keeping Fit
Calling the game Pokemon Go is great, but with all the walking involved you could debatably call it Pokemon Fit. Of course you aren’t going to get toned thighs overnight when searching for Gengars, but in time with regular walking sessions alone or with friends you can see an improvement in your health. Those who specifically find it difficult to get out of the house and just go for a walk around the block will find this game a very good incentive to do so. Even those who are not as well versed in the Pokemon franchise can pick this game up and find a purpose to what would normally be a boring walking session. Give it some time and most of us trainers will have legs that are so well toned that they will make Machamps feel bad for skipping leg day.
2: Exploring New Areas
The games encourage the act of exploration as you can come across items, secret Pokemon and paths that you may have never seen before. With GO, you can do the exact same when out in your local environment. You may not have gone down certain streets due to your regular walking or driving patterns, but now with the game you will see a rustle in the grass nearby and be compelled to go somewhere alien to you. This can come with some big rewards too as trainers have already encountered Pokemon such as Electabuzz and Aerodactyl by going outside of their comfort zone. So when walking around in search for more friends, be sure to take the scenic route. It can only result in something good.
3: Making New Friends
Whether it was trading Pokemon or battling each other, the games always gave you a chance to meet new people and make new friends when out on your adventures. With Pokemon GO in the palm of everyone’s hands, you could be walking down the same street as someone who is also on the prowl to find that sneaky Koffing. Besides Pokemon and games in general are more fun with friends so why not meet up with some people, new and old, to go onto Poke Walks and find the most legendary of Pokemon together. Or you could use your friends as a platform to dominate the local gyms and become your towns own Elite Four.
4: Making You Laugh
There have already been posts around the internet of Pokemon popping up in the strangest and funniest places. You could have a Rattata sitting on your desk, a Spearow outside the window at work or even have a Pidgey show up whilst your wife is giving birth (Yes this has already happened!). These moments are sure to give you a laugh, but also inspire you to find a funny scenario of your own. You never know if a Hypno is going to show up whilst your spending a night with your other half or a Tauros will be waiting outside your bedroom door first thing in the morning.
5: Putting You in Tough Situations
As much as Pokemon GO is a great game, it can also result in sticking you in some pretty tough situations. Police HQs around the world have already come out to warn trainers to be safe whilst on their Pokemon journeys or whilst picking up items at the Poke Stops. Especially since you don’t have to go inside the building to get your daily dose. If you see a Pokemon rustling on the other side of the road, make sure cars are not coming before you cross. Don’t be absorbed by your phone so that you are not looking forward as this can result in something as simple as a bump to something as bad as a serious fall or worse. Weigh up the pros and cons of a situations and go for what you can. That Gastly down that suspicious alley way may be tempting, but just make sure you keep your wits about you in case trouble may be a foot. No one wants you to get hurt whilst on your Pokemon journey.
We hope you enjoy Pokemon GO and share your adventures with everyone you see. Already have some great catches under your belt? Let us know your experiences with Pokemon GO so far in the comments.
