Stoic Announce The Banner Saga Art Contest ‘Creating the Banner’

To celebrate their launch of The Banner Saga, Stoic and Versus Evil are calling for fans to take part in their art contest ‘Creating the Banner’. The rules are simple; create a Viking inspired artwork based on your personal experience of the game. Fans can draw their inspiration from any aspect of the title, from the stunning landscapes to their own personal crest. The only real condition is that the designs have to capture the distinct runic style as seen on the in-game Godstones.

As The Banner Saga has been so widely praised for its art style, with many pieces of fan art cropping up on the web, Stoic decided to provide this artistic energy with a focus. Stoic’s Art Director Arnie Jorgensen explained, “One way of recording history in early Viking times was for each family to contribute (sew) their own ‘saga’ onto their clan’s banner.  Similarly, we plan to include some of the best designs submitted in this contest to create a twelve foot banner depicting our fan’s experiences with the game, creating a community ‘saga’.”

Winners of the contest will not only get their design etched in The Banner Saga’s history, but will also pick up their own miniature version of the banner to proudly display at home. The contest is now officially open to entrants, and will close on March 13th.

If you have a flair for design and you’re interested in entering the contest, be sure to check out the specific submission details and rules on creatingthebanner.com.
