Ah, the elusive “Shiny” Pokemon. The mechanic that has been the destruction of many a handheld, and the occasional sanity. Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee have included this wonderfully painful feature to fill us with hours of searching to finally find that fancy shiny Ekans.
Luckily, there are some easier ways to find Shiny Pokemon these days than on the previous entries. So let’s cover the basics.
First and foremost, the best way to find a Shiny Pokemon is by racking up a Catch Combo. The combo can either be of that specific Pokemon, or any other Pokemon to reap the benefits. To read up on the entire Catch Combo mechanic, check out our other guide here.
For a shortened version, catch the same species Pokemon over and over again to rack up a Catch Combo. If the Pokemon ever runs away or you catch a different Pokemon, the combo will be broken. Shinies are MUCH more likely to spawn when on a high Catch Combo, so this mechanic is imperative if you want to catch a shiny without hours and hours of searching.
Lastly, now that wild Pokemon can be seen in the overworld, Shiny Pokemon can be seen before initiating a catch sequence with them. This means that you don’t need to run into every Pokemon of the species that you want the shiny for, you’ll be able to see it as soon as it spawns.
Good luck, and happy hunting!
