VGU Talks: What To Expect From Transformers Devastation
Transformers: Devastation is the new title coming from the combined efforts of Activision and Platinum Games. As a massive fan of the original generation of the cartoons, I am ecstatic to see some of the original transformers come back in their original art style. With a gameplay showcase from E3 as well as a recent gameplay trailer available to watch, what can we depict from these as to what the game will contain?
First of all it is key to note that the combat here is much more fast paced than any other Transformers game we have seen before. Truly encompassing Platinum Games’ style of character action games. With this we are able to perform combos where our selected Autobot can switch between robot and vehicle modes. Finally a chance to use a vehicle as a fully fleshed out weapon rather than a tool for faster transportation. On top of this lights are shown on the character to identify either the appropriate time to transform or a time to charge up an attack for crazy damage.
As well as gameplay looking solid, old school rivals of the auto bots return. The Decepticons look as amazing as ever and have some very impressive fights to give us. Some of the characters we can expect are Megatron, Star Scream, the Constructicons with Devastator, Sound wave and Shock wave. There were a couple of characters however that were seen for a split second. One being the Insecticon known as Kick Back who can transform into a grasshopper, alluding to the idea that the other Insecticons could be in the game as well. The second was Thunder Cracker, brother and blue variant to fan favourite Star Scream. Could this mean the original Decepticon aerial fleet could appear in the game?
