VGU Talks: Star Wars Battlefront Beta Impressions
The biggest Beta in EA’s history and possibly one of the most anticipated titles of this year, Star Wars Battlefront is looking to be a top seller. But after playing through the Beta, I was left very underwhelmed by the game, especially since they will be charging around fifty pounds for a season pass on top of what you are already paying for the base game. So what did and did not work in my eyes in the games Beta?
First off let me just say that the games biggest selling point, The Star Wars License, is used to full effect. Everything from the art style to the sound effects are spot on and truly encompass you in the world of Star Wars. But with all of that to one side what else really is there? The Game modes themselves were quite lacking and heck even EA admitted that the Hoth Invasion mission intentionally made the Empire the most over powered side which seemed like a silly move to make worthy of Beta. Spawn locations seem very off, a proper loadout system changed to a card system seems both lazy and doesn’t fit the world and the gameplay itself in comparison to the over titles seems extremely underwhelming. It is a shame to see from one of my favourite franchises and it has sadly now caused me to no longer wish to pre-order let alone own this game.
