VGU Talks – E3 2015: Bethesda Showcase Reveals & Impressions
Bethesda this time around at E3 had their very own showcase and I am happy to report that they didn’t disappoint. The show was very good and showed us what we could expect from the company in the coming year.
First we have Doom, my personal favourite FPS franchise of all time. It was great to see the series returning. It looks beautiful in a new engine with updates to popular enemy models and gun models. Everything that makes a fundamental Doom game is here with big guns, hell, Mars, demons and of course the BFG. Only one thing wasn’t shown and that was the return of the Doom theme. Will it come back or is it removed for good? We will have to wait and find out.
Next up we had information concerning Battlecry, the companies answer to Team Fortress 2. Sadly the presentation did nothing to win me over. The game looks lack lustre with the art style not really doing the game justice. The FPS also seems to be fluctuating along with character animations. Overall, this was the part of the show where if you needed to go to the bathroom, you did.
Arcane Studios revealed a new addition to the Dishonoured franchise with Dishonoured 2. Although I tried to get into the original game and could not truly enjoy the experience, I know a lot of gamers out there cannot wait for this to come out. A new female protagonist takes the main stage here with new powers which allow her to stealth and weave her way to her targets and execute them. Also nice to see clockwork animatronics with some creepy and intimidating animations and fighting styles. If you are looking forward to a new Dishonoured, you will not be disappointed here.
The E3 showcase also showed off more of The Elder Scrolls Online with what is coming to the game post launch with new areas and enemies to face off against. It is great to see the inside of the Imperial City making a mark this time around as it will bring back nostalgia of those who played Oblivion. Sadly, I am not looking to get back into the game any time soon. After reviewing the game and even trying it out after the review, I cannot seem to love what Zenimax is doing here. Some players out there will see this as a great MMO, for me it is only good at best.
But the big showcase we were all waiting for was the reveal of more information concerning Fallout 4. More customisation for characters, guns and even settlements. Full on control of your canine companion as you request him to move and acquire items on your behalf. A story concerning the lone vault dweller of Vault 111 awakening two hundred years after the fallout. There is a lot here that was revealed and quite frankly it has made me ecstatic for the release in November of this year.
Be sure to let us know what you thought of the Bethesda Showcase below and keep in touch for more information concerning E3 2015.
