TCG Tuesday: Superheavy Samurai Deck
Welcome to a new show on VGU Talks, TCG Tuesday. Here I get to talk about what is happening in the world of the trading card games. Whether that be Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering or anything else.
Today I share a deck I have been running with in Yu-Gi-Oh, the Super Heavy Samurai. These mechanical warlords are not to be messed with on the field as they work off of each other without having a single spell or trap card. That’s right, it is all about monsters and the synergy between them.
Here is the deck list:
Monster – 40
Machina Gearframe x1
Effect Veiler x3
Construction Train Signal Red x3
Gorz Emissary of Darkness x2
Genex Ally Birdman x1
Neo-Spacian Grand Mole x1
T.G. Striker WA-01 x3
Giant Rat x3
Superheavy Samurai Big Bekei x3
Superheavy Samurai Scales x3
Superheavy Samurai Blue Brawler x3
Superheavy Samurai Soul Piercer x3
Superheavy Samurai Flutist x3
Superheavy Samurai Soulfire Suit x3
Superheavy Samurai Trumpeter x3
Machina Fortress x2
Extra Deck – 15
Star Eater x1
Leo, The Keeper of the Sacred Tree x1
Superheavy Samurai Warlors Susanowo x2
Mist Wurm x1
Hot Red Dragon Archfiend x1
Black Rose Moonlight Dragon x1
Superheavy Samurai Oni Shutendo-G x2
Goyo Guardian x1
Naturia Barkion x1
Ally of Justice Catastor x1
Naturia Beast x1
Gear Gigant X x2
With Superheavy Samurai, there’s a great way to bring out the boss monster Warlord Susanowo and give yourself protection in the process. You need the Superheavy cards Flutist, Soulpiercer and Scales in your hand in order to do this. First, normal summon Flutist and equip it with Soulpiercer. Tribute Flutist to special summon Scales, use Soulpiercers’ graveyard effect to search for Trumpeter. Use Scales’ effect to special summon Soulpiercer from the grave, then special summon Trumpeter from your hand, synchro for Susanowo and use Soulpiercers’ effect again to search for Soulfire Suit. Out of nowhere with only three cards you’ve now got a 3800 DEF brick wall with protection from targeting in your grave and protection from anything else in your hand.
Card Alternatives:
Hot Red Dragon Archfiend & Black Rose Moonlight Dragon – Only available in the OCG format. With this in mind you will need to make alternative choices for your TCG set up. I would personally recommend regular Black Rose Dragon and Clear Wings Synchro Dragon. Both cards are great for dealing with situations out on the field and are relatively easy to get out due to your tuners and monster combos. You could even switch in a Dark Rebellion Dragon if you so wish as you have so many level four monsters to XYZ summon with.
Shutendo-G – Currently OCG but could be seeing a release in TCG very soon. With this in mind, like the previous alternatives, switch out Do-G with anything else to deal with back row or different situations. If you feel like it you could for now add in an extra Susanowo to capitalise on the three Big Benkei’s you’ll be running in the deck.
