PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim Revealed During PlayStation Meeting
Several months ago, it was revealed that new models of the PS4 would be revealed to compete against Microsoft’s Xbox One S and Project Scorpio. In the PlayStation Meeting livestream that was held yesterday evening, Sony revealed two new versions of the console, with each one targeted towards a specific target audience. The PS4 Slim is a smaller edition of the current PS4 console, with the same technical specification and processing power. The PS4 Pro, previously known as the PS4 Neo provides a substantial performance increase for upcoming and previously released PS4 software, as well as the ability to output games at 4K resolutions.
Although 4K output will only be available on the PS4 Pro, all versions of the PS4 will also receive HDR compatibility through a system software update. This will improve the visual quality of games if you have a HDR capable TV, projector or monitor, and provide a broader range of colour that has rarely been seen in home entertainment. The PS4 Slim will be available from September 16th 2016, for the very pleasing price of £259.99. If you are looking to future proof your gaming experience, then the PS4 Pro will be available on November 10th 2016 for the recommended retail price of £349.99, which was the initial launch for the first model of the console.
