Welcome back warriors of the old world. With Total War: Warhammer 3 now confirmed to be dropping this year, why don’t you join us in looking at all the details we know so far. So, grab your winter furs, ready your frost magic, and scowl at your daemons. Let’s jump in!

Corruption. Obsession. Deceit? Rage!

First things first is the story. Even before the recently released trailer, Creative Assembly mentioned that Chaos would be a theme. And oh boy is it! The forces of Nurgle, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, and Khorne are all committed to wrecking face and hit The Old World hard. The two bastions in their way? The stern Kislev and their Ice Queen, and the empire of Grand Cathay with their cities of gold and jade.

Not only will the dark powers threaten the lands in the game but, you will might even be able to side with them. Hinted to in the trailer and mentioned on the official website, “Will you conquer your daemons? Or will you command them?”. Being able to expand your roster with devastating daemons is exciting. Another note is whether the forces of Chaos will be able to turn on each other? Slaanesh and Khorne are not that friendly with each other after all. This is yet to be clarified.

The leaders of these factions will most like be featured in the weeks to come. In their FAQ they mention 9 playable Legendary Lords to look forward to. If it’s anything like the previous two titles they will be amazing! Especially with Warhammer Studio’s Designer and Conceptualiser Mark Bredford giving direction.

The one thing that will not be breaking the enemy lines are the Stormcast Eternals or other original works from the Age of Sigmar lines developed by Games Workshop. As this is set during the reign of Emperor Karl Franz and the material is referenced from the 8th Edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Maybe another time… perhaps.

The Age of Grand Strategy

As with the previous title, with the introduction to Total War: Warhammer 3 comes an expanded map to the owners of all three games. This is insane! Total War campaign maps are huge and rich in details as they are. Having all three of the Warhammer maps in one campaign will make for one epic experience. And even more epic strategic gameplay.

Talking about the three titles a whole, there will be one more DLC for Warhammer 2 before the focus is shifted solely on to Warhammer 3. No details on that just yet. But, all in good time. And, there will no doubt be a plethora of additional content in the waiting for the latest title. The gift of war that just keeps on giving!

Other Details

An important detail to note is that Total War: Warhammer 3 will be available for PC, macOS, and Linux with the latter two releasing as close to the PC release date as possible. As for digital stores to purchase from, both Steam and Epic Games will be a the forefront with Sega approved partners available too. You can also purchase straight from Creative Assembly which will help the studio even more!

Before you do purchase, for the combined map to be available you must have all three titles from one store. As this is a DLC, the linking is associated to the store front. So double check this before the game releases later this year.

And that is your lot. Exciting times ahead for the world of Total War: Warhammer. Tell us what grabbed you the most from the trailer reveal in the comments below.
