Public Events are back and better than ever in Destiny 2, creating a motive for strangers to work together to survive tough battles. If your group is feeling particularly courageous, these public events have secret triggers to activate a Heroic Public Event. These Heroic Public Events are much harder than their standard counterparts, but drop much better loot. The list below has instructions on changing each Public Event to an Heroic one.

Remember when completing these steps to keep an eye on the countdown timer. If the event isn’t completed by the time it hits zero, your rewards will be much less impressive.

 

Spire Integration

During this event the Vex will be charging at a conduit that must be defended. While the Vex are trying to overrun the conduit, keep a lookout for large circular pads materializing on the ground. Stand on these pads to capture them. Three pads in total will need capturing to trigger the Heroic Event. Once triggered, you’ll have to keep defending the conduit, while fighting a Hydra boss.

 

Taken Blight

When this event starts, a force field will form and your position must be protected from waves of Taken. During these waves a giant Blight ball will spawn and is immune to all attacks. Hop outside the force field to receive the Blight Receding buff, granting the ability to damage the blob. Repeat this as needed until the bubble bursts, triggering the heroic event and spawning a Taken boss to be defeated.

 

Ether Resupply

This one is the simplest to trigger of them all. Your objective is to defeat a giant Servitor. During the battle, smaller Servitors will spawn around the battlefield. Dispose of these quickly to trigger the event, making the main Servitor much stronger. Defeat the tough Servitor to finish this event.

 

Cabal Excavation

During this event you’ll have to steal a drill from the Cabal. All you have to do is stand in the vicinity of it and the percentage will slowly rise. During the capture, keep your eyes peeled for a Thresher to fly nearby. Dispose of the ship as quickly as possible to trigger the heroic event. This spawns a Centurion boss to fight. Kill him and the event is complete.

 

Destroy the Walker

As explained in the title, you’ll  be destroying a walker. As you damage this walker it will drop Arc Charges that need to be brought to three shielded Scorch Cannons around the area. Once all three are unlocked, the event will trigger and another walker will spawn. Defeat both walkers to finish this event.

 

Injection Rig

During this event you’ll be fighting waves of Cabal at a giant Injection Rig. As you eliminate the Psions, vents will open on the rig’s top, middle and bottom levels. Destroy these vents as they open to trigger the Heroic Event, spawning Infiltrator Valus. Defeat Valus to complete this event.

 

Witches' Ritual

The Hive are trying to perform a ritual, and we don’t want them to do that. Two green circles will spawn on the ground, stand within these circles and shoot down the hive wizards. Afterwards, you’ll need to take out two big green shards atop the Hive Portal. Destroying these triggers the Heroic Event, and spawns a REALLY tough Hive baddie to fight.

 

Glimmer Extraction

During this event you’ll be chasing Fallen from area to area as they try to mine glimmer from the ground. Before fighting the Fallen, destroy the extractor, a small device sending a beam at the drill. The extractors will need to be destroyed at each site to trigger the heroic event. Then you’ll have to protect a big ol’ pile of glimmer from Fallen until the event timer runs out.
