Combat Core Launches on Kickstarter May 15th

The 3d, third person brawler is an under-represented genre, having its day with the Power Stone series back on the Dreamcast before fading into obscurity, along with Sega’s relevance in the console market. However, this genre which has been dormant for many years is planning to make a comeback with the new game Combat Core, developed by one man studio MABManz. Combat Core takes obvious inspiration from Power Stone, while also having some influence from Super Smash Bros, as players can grab items and use them in battle, as they fight against up to 3 other players.

From the looks of the trailer released to build hype for the Kickstarter, there are promises of online multiplayer should the game get funded on Kickstarter, as well as the ability to create your own character who can fight alongside the already colourful cast of playable fighters. So far, Curtis Arnott or Takahata101 of TeamFourStar fame, has been tied to the project and will be voicing the character Bruizer. Maybe more famous voice actors may come as possible stretch goals, who knows?

If the trailer gets you interested and you like the feel of the alpha demo which is on IndieDB, maybe consider backing this game on May 15th. I imagine a lot of old school Power Stone fans will be coming out of the woodwork to help get this one funded.
