The Game Awards has become one of the most prestigious events in the video game calendar since it first took place back in 2014. Many developers have opted to reveal brand new projects and exclusive gameplay trailers during the ceremony, with previous years featuring the world premiere of new information on Bayonetta 3 and The Last of Us Part II.

With this year’s Game Awards now less than 24 hours away, the time has come for us to guess which games will be given their debut during the event. Bear in mind that some items on this list are merely speculation, and not a guarantee that they will be present during The Game Awards 2018.

Crash Team Racing Remake

After the success of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster, rumours began to circulate of a remaster of Crash Team Racing, a 1999 racing game whose playable roster consisted of the crazy cast of the series. These rumours have re-emerged in the past few days, with the emergence of a cryptic tweet with a picture of furry dice which are the same orange colour as Crash’s fur.

The current holders of the Crash Bandicoot license also developed the game’s sequel, Crash Nitro Kart, which was released for PS2, GameCube, Xbox and Game Boy Advance in 2004. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that Vicarious Visions could handle the remake, their previous experience puts them in the best possible position for success.

Next Far Cry

With all the content from the Far Cry 5 Season Pass available now, it is inevitable that Ubisoft will be getting ready to showcase something new from their best-selling franchise. In a series of communications via social media, Ubisoft have announced that they will be showcasing a Far Cry related product at The Game Awards.

At this point, it is not clear if this will be a new addition to the Far Cry 5 universe, or if it is an entirely new title to bridge the gap from now until the sixth main entry in the series blasts its way into our gaming consciousness.

A New Nintendo Title

The success of the Nintendo Switch has proven that the console games industry is not just a two-horse race, and with the recent changes to their streaming policies, it seems that Nintendo are well and truly moving into the modern age. Earlier this week, the company asked fans to keep their focus on The Game Awards, with the promise that something big will be announced there.

Precisely what will be revealed is not currently known, but with the rumours of Skyward Sword HD and a possible port of the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the digital grapevine, it is anyone’s guess what will be given the spotlight by Nintendo during the awards ceremony.

A New Obsidian Entertainment Title

With the recent acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment by Microsoft, the company have revealed that several new projects are on their horizon. Some rumours have suggested that a new Fallout game could be on the cards, or it could be a new IP that will make its debut during the show. Whichever options turns out to be true, with Obsidian’s track record we can be assured that it will be a game to remember.

New Bioware RPG

With the unfortunate collapse of the Mass Effect universe’s continuation, it is highly likely that Bioware will have returned to the drawing board to come up with something to put the team back on the map. Several rumours flying around social media have spoken of a new Dragon Age title, but until the ceremony begins, it is anyone’s guess which IP will be given the green flag.
