Catch Combos

Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee Guide

In Pokemon Let’s Go, the catching/wild pokemon system is entirely new, based off of the catching system found within Pokemon Go. As such, some new mechanics that regular Pokemon players may not be familiar with have made their way into the new title.

Most notably would be the Catch Combo system. When catching a Pokemon, you begin a combo of 1 for that specific type of Pokemon. Once you catch another of that Pokemon, you’ll receive a message on the catch screen detailing how deep into your Catch Combo you are. If at any time in your combo, you run into a pokemon of a different type, it will break off your catch combo, so keep that in mind.

Additionally, if the Pokemon flees before being caught, the combo will also break. However, you ARE able to fly to a different location on the map and continue your combo.

So why does this all matter? What is the point of Catch Combos?

Catch Combo Benefits

  • Pokemon you catch will often have higher stats if in a combo.
  • More Rare Pokemon will spawn, such as Evolved Pokemon or Starters.
  • Shiny Pokemon will spawn more frequently.
  • Stat candy will be rewarded in higher amounts.
  • You will gain more exp from successful catches.

It’s definitely worth trying to rack up a Catch Combo if you’re looking for a particularly beefy Pokemon, a Shiny, a Rare, or a Starter.

Remember, try and steer clear from other Pokemon while on a streak, but if you accidentally initiate a catching sequence, you can always run away to save your combo.
