The console which first released in 2006/2007 has seen its last days 10 years after it began. The PlayStation 3 is going to stopped being produced.
According to a Japanese product page which Gemastu originally translated, the production will end but with no specified end date. An additional tweet from a Japanese game shop does suggest it will be in March.
てんちょうです。
2017年3月。つまり今月をもってPS3の出荷が完了となるそうです。つまり生産終了という事ですね。
2006年の11月11日に発売されてから10年ちょっと。まさかこんなに長い間現役で頑張るとは当時は思いもしませんでした。
何はともあれお疲れ様ですね!— ゲームショップVITA久留米店 (@VITA_Kurume) March 16, 2017
“March 2017. This means that PS3 will be shipped this month. In other words, it is production end. Ten years have passed since it was released on November 11, 2006.”
There have also been reports of production ending in New Zealand from a leak on PlayStation NZ but expect to see some official confirmation soon.
