Although YouTube is full to the brim with walkthroughs of games, some including fan created commentary, Nintendo are one of the few companies that place restrictions on how their games can be used. Before now, it was ruled that no profit could be made from any first party Nintendo product, but now the rules are set to change, thanks to a new program that entered public beta testing today.
The Nintendo Creators Program allows YouTube creators to earn royalities from playthroughs of selected Nintendo products such as Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario Kart, as long as a small share of it is paid to Nintendo themselves. For each individual video, you can expect a 60% royalities return, whereas channel wide distribution is a more generous 75%.
