With the recent news of Oculus Rift being bought out by Facebook, it has sparked fear and loathing in many. As many developers continue their projects with the VR platform, Mojangs founder and creator, Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, decided to pull out of making a Rift supported version of  Minecraft, claiming that Facebook “Creeps [Him] out”.

As a response to Notch’s decision to can the VR project, Cliff Bleszinski, former director of design at Epic games, addressed Notch in a blog post. “Notch, your cancelling Minecraft makes you look like a pouty kid who is taking his ball and going home. It’s a bratty and petty move and it saddens me greatly.”

As the first casualty of Facebook taking over the pioneers of Virtual Reality, the news of Mojang stopping production on VR Minecraft may have disappointed many fans. Notch is often cited as one of the most humble people in the video game industry, and his decision may have shocked many, though if he feels uncomfortable striking a deal with a company, it is within his rights to stop further development. Notch reacted in a twitter post, showing that he hadn’t taken much offense to Clffs comment.

Is Bleszinski being unfair in his comment, or should Notch have stuck to his guns and followed through with the virtual reality plans?
