Microsoft will be releasing a limited edition run Titanfall bundle of the Xbox One on March 13th, they revealed on Xbox Wire today. The bundle will include an Xbox One, Kinect 2.0, Wireless Controller, Headset and a digital download of Titanfall, as well as a one month trail of Xbox Live Gold.
The bundle is being priced at $499 in the USA, but more importantly at only £400 here in the UK. That’s a £30 price drop and a free copy of Titanfall to boot, not a bad deal at all. Best of all, that price drop is here to stay. Talking to Eurogamer, Xbox UK managing director Harvey Eagle said that:
“The reason for doing this is about giving gamers in the UK the best value we can with Xbox One. That starts with the announcement we’re making about this new price point of £399 moving forward, and continues with the inclusion of the hottest game of the year in Titanfall.”
Titanfall is being touted as the next evolution of online shooters, sporting fast-paced, run-and-gun action ala Call of Duty, but with some fairly major gameplay alterations that radically mix up the shooter experience. Featuring a free running mechanic made possible through the addition of jetpacks (is there anything in life that isn’t improved by jetpacks?) and huge mechs called Titans, which fall from the sky, Titanfall (see what they did there?) is set to be the first blockbuster game for the Xbox One.
Of the deal, Micrsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi had this to say:
“To celebrate the launch of “Titanfall”, we wanted to do something special. For those of you who are already fans of Xbox One, we hope this will encourage more of your friends to join you on day one for “Titanfall” on Xbox One.”
Mehdi went on to state that:
“Of course, this is an incredible deal, only offered to celebrate the launch of Titanfall, for a limited time. We expect these special bundles will sell out quickly.”
Microsoft’s Xbox One had a great launch back in November, but rumours abound that since then sales have dropped off whilst its main competitor, the PlayStation 4 is still going strong.
Titanfall is the first potential ‘system seller’ for the Xbox One since the launch titles, though the fact it is also available on the Xbox 360 and PC may hamper it’s Xbox One shifting potential. Still this new deal from Microsoft is a very aggressive move and is sure to shift consoles come March 11th, especially when you consider the delay to the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall, which isn’t hitting stores until March 25th.
