Tom Clancy’s The Division appears to be the latest addition to Ubisoft’s growing pile of delayed games, and when all that’s really been established is the game’s engine, it’s not that surprising. A source within the Ubisoft development team recently reached out to Gamereactor Sweden (translation) about The Division’s current time schedule, stating the game is just too large and undeveloped for a 2014 release to be a viable option.
“The game engine works well, it’s not done, but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however,” the anonymous source commented.
“The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It’s a large project, and we have very far to go.”
The studio seem unhappy that Ubisoft have gone ahead and publicised the late 2014 release window, when the game is still so far from finished. However, only time will tell if The Division will be yet another game that Ubisoft have over estimated their capabilities with, joining the ranks of Watch Dogs and The Crew with their similarly altered release schedules.
