When Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney was originally announced, many fans of both series feared it would not be localized because of the cancellation of the sequel to Ace Attorney Investigations. But these fears were laid to rest in August, when Nintendo confirmed an early 2014 release window. In a Nintendo Direct presentation, the company have since confirmed the official release date of the title will be March 28th 2014. It will be available at retail, and on the same day in the Nintendo eShop.
The crossover will involve both Hershel Layton and Phoenix Wright, as they attempt to uncover the mysteries behind the witch trials, prove the innocence of a young girl named Espella, and stop the quest of a tyrannical ruler. They are joined in their investigations and turnabouts by series favourites Luke Triton and Maya Fey, and a whole host of new characters that range from a fiercely loyal knight, to the residents from the local village. Elements of both games will be included, from Layton’s lateral puzzles to Phoenix’s closely won trials, plus a selection of new features that have never been seen in either franchise before.
