Back in 1993, the Zelda series arrived on the Game Boy with The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. The portable adventure received a Game Boy Color update in 1998, and to this day remains of Nintendo’s best handheld games of all time. During the Nintendo Direct which was held yesterday, the developer has announced that a remake of Links Awakening is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch.

Instead of relying on the assets of the previous version of the game, the Nintendo Switch remaster will feature entirely new graphics, redrawn animated cutscenes and a remastered soundtrack. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will be released on Nintendo Switch during 2019.
