The Last of Us Part 2 Release Date, Gameplay, Trailer, Story & More

The Last of Us was quite possibly one of the best games to see the end of the PlayStation 3 era, with many sites giving it top marks in their reviews for its master storytelling and characters, including ours.

Joel and Ellie remained iconic characters that made us laugh, cry and become attached to them as they wandered the post-apocalyptic land space of America. That’s good news then when we found out this week that Joel and Ellie’s story is going to continue in The Last of Us Part 2 with an older Ellie. Naughty Dog revealed the new game during PlayStation Experience 2016 as a short teaser trailer but was still in very early development.

The Last of Us Part 2 Release Date – When is it coming out?!

Being only a slice of its final self when it was first announced back in 2016, it is expected to be a while before we can actually play it. In a recent interview with Radio Station Vorterix, the composer from the game  Gustavo Santaolalla said that the launch of the title is set to be sometime in 2019 for the PS4.

Currently, no official release date has been announced for the title but 2019 does sound about right if it was started in 2016.

The Last of Us Part 2 Story – What’s it about?!

The Last of Us Part 2 is set five years after the events of the first game with Ellie being older now at 19, and now the main character for the game taking over where Joel left off. Don’t worry though, Joel is also around but this time takes a backseat as the mentor role, watching over Ellie as he slowly becomes an old man.

Currently, the main narrative is not very clear but we do know that Ellie is quite an angry 19 year old who likes to play the guitar. In the most recent reveal trailer we get to meet a few new characters in what has been described as quite a violent trailer.

The Last of Us Part 2 Gameplay- What’s can you do?!

Currently, the gameplay for The Last of Us Part 2 has not been shown but basing it off what we have seen from the previous game and also the more recent Uncharted 4 we hope there is going to be more sneaking, more weapons to use against the Clickers and hopefully more interaction with characters through dialogue choices.

Nick Druckman had suggested that Ellie will be different to play.

Ellie plays differently than Joel […] Some things are evolution, some things are reinvention, but there will be a gameplay reveal down the road.

That’s it, all we know for now about The Last of Us Part 2 but as the game creeps closer to it’s release date when it has one be sure to keep checking back on this page and we will update it with more information as it unfolds.
