Hello Games have finally broken their lengthy silence by announcing a forthcoming update to No Man’s Sky, called the “Foundation update.” Unfortunately there’s no detailed patch notes yet, but they’re calling it that as it “adds the foundation for base building, and is also putting in place a foundation for things to come.”
“In the nine weeks since the last patch our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.”
They also acknowledge their lack of recent communication, but let players know they have been listening and paying attention to players’ feedback, despite their lack of response. They claim everyone at the studio still feels passionately about the game and that this update is the “first small step in a longer journey.”
The question on everyone’s minds though is just how much life will his inject back into the game? In a game about exploration and visiting countless planets, many of them being just fleeing visits, how useful will constructing a base really be?
