SteelSeries Launch Arctis Headset Line

SteelSeries have unrevealed their latest line in gaming headsets with the Arctis gaming headsets, a choice of three which “re-imagines the gaming headset through a complete overhaul of traditional gaming designs and headset technologies.”

“Arctis is not a gaming headset. It is a headset line for gamers”,

– Ehtisham Rabbani, SteelSeries CEO

Their main goal for the new Arctis line is to deliver the same quality of audio no matter what the price of the headset. Each mic will include the same microphone with their ClearCast microphone technology, a retractable, bi-directional and noise cancelling mic. SteelSeries have said it should virtually eliminate all background and surrounding noise, focusing just on the speaker’s voice.

“Gaming alone does not define gamers, the Arctis does not impose preconceived notions of what gamers like, but offers a blank canvas that allows them to express themselves and dictate what gaming should look like for them”.

Known for their headset suspension band, the new line showcases the new ski goggle suspension headband and ear cushions, which are made from athletics-inspired AirWeave fabric. Unlike their previous headsets, the new band is adjustable and removable.

Each of the Arctis headset will be the same in terms of comfort and performance but will differ in the additional features offered. The Arctis 3 is an analog wireless headset equipped with 7.1 surround sound compatible with PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, VR and mobile devices.

The Arctis 5 is similar to the 3 but illuminated with a USB connector and ChatMix control dial for quick access to in-game and chat volume. The Arctis 5 is also a multi-platform headset allowing gamers to switch between USB or 3.5mm.

Finally, the Arctis 7 is a wireless headset with ChatMix on the earcup as a dial and has a full-wrap ski goggle suspension design with low-latency wireless technology. It is said to have up to 15 hours of battery life and can work up to 40ft.

Price points for the the Arctis range start from £89.99 for the 3, £109.99 for the 5 and £159.99 for the Arctis 7.
