After the previous two games in the Sonic Boom franchise, Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal were released last year, the announcement of Sonic Boom Fire & Ice was considered a surprise, as the games were given a lukewarm reception by many fans of the series. It seems however that most of the problems have been ironed out, as SEGA devoted additional development time to ensure that the game would be a success. In this new 2.5D platforming adventure, Sonic and his friends are fighting to stop Dr Eggman and a mysterious robot named D-Fekt, whilst using their newfound powers of controlling the elements of fire and ice to stop an environmental disaster. All five main characters from the Sonic Boom series are playable, including the hyperactive Sticks the Badger, the technical genius that is Tails, the muscle of the gang that is Knuckles and the hammer expert Amy Rose.
