Viking King Harald Hardrada Leads in Civilization XI

A new leader makes their way to Civilization XI, Viking King Harald Hardrada.

The King of Norway was not always the king or rightful ruler to the throne. He was exiled from his native land for supporting his half-brother failed campaign and then sough refuge in Kievan Rus and Constantinople.  King Harald was a skilled warrior however and climbed the ranks of the Varangian Guard earning the name Devastator of the Bulgarians.

In 1042 he returned to Norway and skillfully made his way into joint kingship with Magnus I, once Magnus passed away he became to sole ruler of Norway and started a war with the King of Denmark, Sweyn. After Denmark, he set his sights on the throne over in England but took more than he bargained for and ended up dying during the battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.

Harald Hardrada was marked for his war time efforts during his reign but by great progress peace flourished in Norway and were unified under a strong government. You can now take control of Harald Hardrada’s throne in the latest Civilization XI which is coming to Window PC via Steam on October 21st, 2016.
