Microsoft have officially unveiled the titles coming to Games with Gold this March. Xbox One gamers can look forward to Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments and Lords of the Fallen, whilst Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will be receiving Supreme Commander 2 and Borderlands.
Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments puts players in control of the legendary detective, investigating crime scenes and solving mysteries in Victorian England. This is one that will have slipped under many people’s radars, myself included so it’ll be interesting to see well it actually plays. Lords of the Fallen on the other hand is Dark Souls. Straight up Dark Souls but made by a different studio and whilst it’s widely considered to be the inferior interloper, I actually enjoyed my time with it.
Meanwhile on the Xbox 360 we have Supreme Commander 2, a real-time strategy game in which massive armies led by giant robots duke it out for, well supremacy. It’s kind of in the name. Rounding out the month we have Borderlands, the cel-shaded co-operative shooter where players take control of a band of vault hunters and scour the bleak wastelands of Pandora for sweet loot.
It’s a decent month to be sure and those vocal moaners who won’t stop crying for triple A games can sink their teeth in two Xbox One retail releases, but personally February was the superior offering. The overall quality of titles being brought to the system does seem to be on the up though, helped along by the increasing diversity in the library as the console ages.
