Shown off in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Bandai Namco and Granzella have revealed more on their bizarre survival sim, City Shrouded in Shadow. Based primarily off the Disaster Report games developed by Granzella where you have to guide your character through a natural disaster zone in a city, City Shrouded in Shadow has the player surviving in a city under attack by giant monsters.
You have no super powers or special abilities as the main character, you simply have to survive the kaiju attack by clearing stages and avoiding getting trampled by the foot of a giant lizard monster. The hook for City Shrouded in Shadow is that the monsters are actually famous characters from kaiju movies, with one screenshot from Famitsu showing two Ultramen having a scrap while the protagonist runs away. Another screenshot teased a shadow which looked a lot like Godzilla, so expect to be dodging atomic breath as you flee from the disaster area.
No doubt some more famous kaiju will turn up like Gamera, King Ghidorah or maybe even the Power Rangers in a Megazord which will make this survival sim even more bizarre. No news on a Western release but based on these screenshots, I’d love to see more of this series. City Shrouded in Shadow is coming to PS4 and Vita in Japan and you can check out the Japanese teaser trailer below.
