Orcs Must Die! Unchained to Receive Campaign Mode in Next Update

Orcs Must Die! Unchained, the third instalment in the Orcs Must Die! series, is due to receive a colossal update with the upcoming patch 2.7. Currently in closed beta, Unchained combines card collecting with the MOBA genre alongside the traditional mechanics from the first two games.

An all new campaign mode is perhaps the biggest addition to the update, which is essentially a series of 50 challenges with increasing difficulty as you eliminate wave after wave of enemies, bringing the old school Orcs Must Die! element back. Three new maps have been confirmed for the campaign mode; ‘Crogon Keep’, ‘The Wall’, and ‘Frostbite’.

“In over 50 diverse challenges, the player faces wave after wave of enemies, rises in level and improves their traps. These traps can now be upgraded a total of three times with the aid of gathered crafting materials – at account levels 25, 50 and 75. This helps the equipment not only get stronger, but also gives them a further socket per increase which can then be filled with crafted materials, providing further bonuses and improvements.”

Robot Entertainment are also looking at gameplay balancing, “mixing up the classic separations of offense and defensive characters – every hero can now choose their role according to the desires of the player”. Traps are now customisable and upgradeable, with extra options for personalisation.
