So it begins. Scalebound, the ambitious open-world action RPG from Platinum Games renowned Game Director Hideki Kamiya has been officially delayed until 2017. In a statement on their website, Platinum said that ‘development is going well‘ but that ‘In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017.’ Scalebound was revealed by Microsoft as an Xbox One exclusive title at E3 2014 through a CG trailer. with gameplay first showing up at Gamescom 2015.
Scalebound follows the story of Drew, a human who has been transported to a distant. hostile world inhabited by savage creatures, including a dragon named Thuban with whom he forms a unique bond. Drew and Thuban work together in combat to bring down their foes, with the player controlling Drew but being able to give commands to Thuban. It’s disappointing to see this fantastic looking title delayed, but if it gives Platinum the time they need to fully realise their vision, then we think it’s worth it.
