Have you heard about a game that has been in the works for a while now called Summer Camp? It takes the tropes from the classic Friday the 13th movies and turns them into a pretty interesting game. Think of an Evolve style title where you have seven players versus the one, but the seven are trying to survive from the slasher villain being played by the one. An interesting idea right?
Well thing have been quiet revolving around the game recently with the guy over at Gun Media. But it turns out that they have been in talks with the creator of Friday the 13th, Sean Cunningham, in order to make the game bigger and better than ever before. So now the game is no longer known as Summer Camp and it instead officially Friday the 13th: The Video Game starring non other than the legendary Jason Voorhees.
The aim of the game stays the same as seven players run away and try to survive against the legendary slasher villain. But trying to kill this man is going to be pretty tough, especially if you have seen any of the films. Gun Media is also working alongside the original actor who played Jason Voorhees in the films as well as a group of stunt men and women so that the gruesome and chaotic kills can be captured and put in-game.
Now this game sounds great to those who are fans of the franchise, but the developers need your help to make it happen. They have opened up a kickstarter campaign that is asking for $700,000 in order to make this dream a reality. The developers hope to get the game completed for October 2016 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
What do you think about Friday the 13th: The Video Game? Think it has a chance to live up to the legendary franchise? Let us know what you think in the comments and be sure to check out the Kickstarter page if you wish to support the game.
