Capcom Unveils Resident Evil Umbrella Corps At TGS 2015

Capcom walked on stage during the Sony conference at the Tokyo Game Show. We were expecting something concerning Street Fighter V but were sadly mistaken. It was in fact a showcase of Resident Evil’s, also known as Biohazard in Japan, 20th Anniversary starting in 2016. To celbrate this event, they revealed a new logo that will be printed on any Resident Evil games in the new year.

But this was not all. There was also the big unveiling of the new competitive shooter known as Resident Evil Umbrella Corps. This takes the dynamic of 3rd person combat from the series and takes it to a new level as groups of highly trained and skilled Umbrella soldiers duke it out against one another. Now you may be thinking that’s all well and good, but where are the zombies? Well they have been integrated, at least so far, in the guise of special combat moves in the game.

For example, you have a melee weapon shaped like a scythe known as the Zombie Biell. You can smash a lying down opponents face into the floor with the Zombie Eisen. Use an opponent as cover using the Zombie Shield technique and also disarm and confuse opponents with precise shooting aka Zombie Jammer. Couple this with chaotic gameplay, special execution kills and full on melee combat with parrying and this could be one title that can steal the show.

Resident Evil Umbrella Corp is scheduled for a 2016 release on PS4 and PC. It is currently a digital title so it may not have a physical release, but this has yet to be confirmed.
