Last year, Microsoft released a Digital TV Tuner for the Xbox One, but despite the ability to record gameplay, it was not possible to record TV shows uisng the console. Thanfully for the television fans amongst us, one of the features included in the dashboard update coming before the year’s end will be TV recording via a DVR interface.

The company have also confirmed that only the Freeview formats supported by the tuner will support the new additions, although you can use the HDMI input to connect to a satellite or cable box to make a copy of your digital recordings. This can be done without the new update or the Digital TV Tuner, but the ability record live TV in the background  using the Xbox One is certainly a welcome addition.
