As Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is now available for pre-order on the Japanese PSN store, we finally have an idea of just how much space Kojima’s magnum opus will take up on your hard-drive. According to the store, the PS4 version of The Phantom Pain will 25.1GB download while the PS3 version will only be 11.7GB. Now, this seems quite small compared to other giant open world games out there like the Witcher 3 but seeing as the Fox Engine is designed to be highly optimised for current gen systems, it probably means that Kojima and his staff have done a brilliant job in streamlining Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Hopefully, the often touted metric of Phantom Pain’s world being 200 times larger than Ground Zeroes will actually be true.
With this news, Kojima has shared a new poster for The Phantom Pain, showing Snake and Quiet being drenched in blood with a caption reading ‘Stained in blood, the aftermath of revenge.’ While the sheer amount of blood staining certain parts of Quiet is a tad disturbing/par for the course with Kojima, it will no doubt all make sense once players get their hands on Kojima’s work. A bloody finale would only make sense for the franchise, especially after the recent events which have left a bad taste in many Metal Gear fans’ mouths. If you want to buy this final poster, it will be available in Japan in August so save up your yen now.
