Tekken fans rejoice, Bandai Namco have released a new slice of gameplay footage to further tease us into submission. However it’s not just the silky smooth fighting engine in full flow that will get you excited, it’s the inclusion of a new character that has got fans talking. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Gigas.
Tekken’s already large roster is home to many machines but none like this new brawler. Looking as if he’s lifted straight from the pages of a Manga novel, Gigas appears to be a replacement for the long-standing Jack robots as Tekken’s lead mech-warrior. His huge array of vicious combos and devastating charge attacks make him one formidable opponent, capable of getting the drop on devious opponents like Dragunov.
Gigas is also one of six new characters to make their debut in Tekken 7, joining fan-favourites like Heihachi, King and Paul Phoneix for yet another bout in the King of Iron Fist Tournament. Other new characters include Muay-Thai fighter Josie Rizal and most interestingly of all Kazumi Michima; the wife of Heihachi and mother to Kazuya, making her first official appearance in the series.
Tekken 7 hit Japanese arcades back in February to much critical acclaim. Fans here in the west are currently awaiting any confirmation of when we’ll see a console release. Bandai Namco have yet to release any details beyond the snippets of gameplay that have hit the web. There has also been no mention yet as to which systems the game will be released for.
