With the release of Mortal Kombat X, everyone seems to be enjoying the return of bloody carnage and fatal finishers. But behind what good the game is bringing to the table, is something concerning that is now slowly starting to become a trend within triple A titles.
With Mortal Kombat X comes Easy Fatalities, the ability to pull off some of the most gruesome finishing moves in the game by a touch of a button instead of entering a combo. At first glance this seems great for casual players, which it is, but then you see what is hiding behind the mechanic. In order to pull off the easy versions of the finishing moves you need coins which are acquired through playing the game normally or through purchase on the PSN, Xbox Live and Steam stores. On top of this, like with the game Evolve, there is also DLC allowing you to unlock everything in the crypt that you would normally have to work for.
How long will we have to wait now until we see more gaming franchises that we hold dear release with day one micro-transactions? At least in my opinion, things like this should be left in the hands of Free-To-Play games. For my full thoughts be sure to watch the video and let me know what you think down in the comments.
