Waterborne, the first major expansion for city-builder/political sim Tropico 5, is out now to download for PC, Mac & SteamOS via Steam and the Kalypso Launcher (PC only). Waterborne challenges players to expand their nation into the unknown waters of adventurous opportunity and fully harness the power of the ocean. A launch trailer for Tropico 5 ‘Waterborne’ has also been released today, displaying the brand new water based game mechanics and content features included in the expansion: such as water traffic, larger coastal areas, new events and lots of buildings to make use of.
The expansion allows players to build brand new off-shore alternatives to defence, food, energy, entertainment and even housing – which each come with their own set of opportunities and disadvantages. Organise and coordinate transport to structures like the kelp and oyster farms, construct tidal power plants as an eco-friendly alternative to nuclear power and build floating apartments if you’re running out of land. Launch military submarines to bolster your naval forces or create a bathysphere attraction to improve your tourist paradise.
The new features and enhancements found in Waterborne are: New campaign and story spanning 6 challenging missions, 9 new off-shore buildings and marine vehicles, 4 new island maps (also available for sandbox games), 4 new music tracks, 2 new avatar costumes, 6 new avatar accessories, and new sandbox tasks and events to go with the waterborne setting.
Waterborne for Tropico 5 is out now to download for PC, Mac & SteamOS for £14.99.
