Epic Games have announced that schools and universities will have unlimited free access to Unreal Engine 4. This new initiative means that academic communities will be able to take advantage of everything Epic’s latest engine has to offer.
“Nothing is stopping students from honing the skills needed to enter the range of fields using Unreal Engine technology, from entertainment software and film to visualization, healthcare simulation and military training,” said Ray Davis, general manager, Unreal Engine. “Students who know Unreal Engine technology have a huge advantage when it comes to job placement.”
Students will be able to get hands on with C++ source code as well as experience the visual scripting tool Blueprint. With Epic’s wide connections and collaborations, this academic access will open the door for students to apply their newly gained knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 in industry – through gaming development or other means.
If you’re interested in getting this for your school or university, Epic have provided a link to get your faculty of education involved with this initiative.
