Minecon will be hitting London in Spring of next year, according to Mojang Chief Operating Officer Vu Bui in an announcement on the Mojang website.
Whilst there is no confirmed date or venue, Vu Bui iterated the company’s desire to host Minecon annually – but buffed this statement with a dose of realism, explaining “we want to make sure we can give it the attention it needs, and that means that springtime next year will work best!”
The down shot of this announcement is the confirmation that there will be no Minecon 2014, but with Mojang aiming for Spring 2015 it means Minecraft fans won’t have too long to wait for the next convention. This announcement comes after weeks of silence of the fan organized Mineorama, which appears to have been a scam, so it will be a relief for Minecraft fans to know a convention they can trust will be taking place soon.
Vu Bui has promised more information in the coming months, and confirmed they will not announce the venue before the contract has been signed. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the news as and when Mojang release it here on VGU!
