ATLUS caused a minor controversy among the gaming industry in 2012 when they announced that Persona 4 Arena would be the first PS3 game in the Americas to be region locked. The exact reasons for the decision weren’t clear, but they have managed to ensure that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the sequel, will not be region locked in North or South America.
This is great news for the fans of ATLUS’s Persona franchise, who will not necessarily have to wait for the game to be released in Europe. The only slight problem with this is that you will not be able to access the DLC that is included with the standard purchase. This may not be a problem in the long run, as European DLC is generally compatible with American software, but we will have to wait until the release of the game to know for sure.
