Evolve has a release date…let’s kill us some aliens

2K and Turtle Rock Studios, the developers behind Left 4 Dead, have announced the release date of their upcoming co-op shooter, Evolve, which will see a global release on the 21st October 2014. Evolve is coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Pre-ordering Evolve will net you the Monster Expansion Pack, which includes the Savage Goliath monster skin at launch and a new monster character to play at a later date. Depending on where you pre-order from, you can also get the Exterminator Weapon Skin Pack or the Instant Hunter Pack.

Evolve is an asymmetric multiplayer shooter which blends co-operative and competitive play together. Set on an alien planet in the distant future, Evolve pits a team of four players against a lone monster. Both teams must use their environment, as well as their abilities, to their fullest potential as they battle it out in huge arena style maps. The human team is made up of four classes (Trapper, Support, Assault and Medic) who each have their own unique abilities. Meanwhile the monster player may choose from multiple classes of beast, each with it’s own strengths and weaknesses.

We checked out Evolve back in February and loved it, so we’re itching at the bit to get back into the action. Whilst you wait, be sure to check out our Evolve preview.
