Child of Light Launch Trailer Reveals New Story Details

To support the release of Child of Light which finally reached our consoles yesterday, Ubisoft shared a new launch trailer to introduce players to the game’s story from the very beginning.

The introduction wasn’t quite what some were expecting, however, as it revealed a surprising twist – as of the beginning of Child of Light, our young protagonist, Aurora, is dead. Just how this is reflected in the game will be interesting to see, though with Child of Light being inspired by age-old fairytales, we can probably assume Aurora’s fate is not really quite so bleak.

Child of Light is a turn-based RPG designed by a small team inside Ubisoft Montreal. It has been created with the UbiArt Framework engine, which allows developers to create a world that appears to be an interactive painting. Using this engine, Child of Light has been constructed in a beautiful watercolour style, which fills the game with a fairytale-like charm and sense of wonder. The game itself features a story told in verse, many customisation options, and a quest that can be played both alone and in co-op.

Child of Light is now available across almost every platform, though if you’re looking to pick up something a little special you’ll need to buy it on PS4, PS3 or PC. Exclusive to these is the Deluxe Edition, featuring a 24 page artbook, a print designed by Yoshitaka Amano, and an Igniculus key ring. The boxed version of the game also includes additional content, with a bonus quest, new character and some collectibles.
