Riftcon trademark makes virtual reality conventions a reality?

The current leaders in the pursuit of commercial virtual reality have just trademarked the name “Riftcon” named aptly after their companys leading product, the Oculus Rift. The trademark was filed on the 14th of February by Oculus VR and under the description, the phrase “organizing exhibitions in the fields of interactive entertainment, virtual reality, consumer electronics and video game entertainment industries for cultural or educational purposes” Outlines a huge possibility of a Oculus Rift convention.

The chances are that this convention will take place in the U.S. as Oculus VR are based in California, but if the living room virtual reality experience takes off, these events could potentially become global.
