Dark Souls II may seem dark and dreary, but it has only earned a “Teen” rating from the ESRB.

The content descriptor for states that the game has “Blood and Gore, Mild Language, Partial Nudity, Violence”

To compare, both Demon’s Souls and the original Dark Souls earned a ‘Mature’ rating for blood and violence. While Dark Souls II contains both , it seems it has been toned down dramatically. Maybe this is what From Software meant when they stated Dark Souls II was “more accessible“.

While relatively spoiler-free, those who want to go in as uninformed as possible may want to steer away from peeking at the official ESRB page for Dark Souls II.

Dark Souls II will be released onto PS3, PC and Xbox 360 mid-March.
