Banner Saga 2 Development Going Ahead Despite King Copyright Issue

Three man indie developers Stoic are going ahead with the development of The Banner Saga 2. This is despite ongoing issues with King, after they claimed copyright infringement over the word “saga” used in the games title.

Announced on Facebook yesterday, Stoic stated:

“after a short hiatus we’ll be coming back to work on the next game in the trilogy. If there’s one complaint we’ve heard over and over, it’s that the story isn’t done.”

King have stated that the reason for claiming that the word “saga” infringes on their copyright is so they can protect their IP. Both developers and gamers have come together to let King know that they think they are in the wrong, but there has been little in the way of resolution as of yet.

The next part of the Banner Saga story isn’t likely to arrive for a long time, so we hope by then it is all sorted out.
