Titanfall’s Player Count Confirmed as 6v6

A recent tweet from Vince Zampella, co-founder of Infinity Ward and Respawn, confirmed that the maximum player count for Titanfall would be 6v6. He explained that this was the best balance with AI for an optimal game experience, later adding that extensive testing had been done to get the player count right for the most enjoyment.

After much backlash from across the web, Drew McCoy, Titanfall’s producer, took to the NeoGAF forums to further clarify and defend the team’s decision. He commented, “for amount of stuff happening at once in a map you’ll be hard pressed to find a game that keeps the action higher. I literally have to stop playing every few rounds because my heart just can’t take it some times. Remember, you can get out of your Titan and let it roam on AI mode – meaning there can be 12 pilots wall-running around, 12 Titans stomping below, and dozens of AI doing their thing.”

While 6 may seem like a low number at first, McCoy is right to point out that the teams can effectively be upped to 12 if players choose to leave their Titans, which is all in all not a bad total. However, with Titanfall’s highly anticipated launch just over two months away, it will soon be much easier for fans to decide whether or not they agree with the cap when they finally play the game for themselves.
