Nintendo 3DS Region Lock Can Now Be Removed

Due to the efforts of a team of programmers, the Nintendo 3DS region lock feature can now be disabled. According to Joystiq, any 3DS system that is running system software version 4.5 and below can now play any cartridge from around the world.. However, it is currently only possible using a compatible flashcard, which can install a customised file which allows a game from another region to be played. At the time of posting, Nintendo have yet to make a statement regarding this recent development in the hacking community, and it is not possible to pirate or play unlicensed content.

We at VGU do not condone the use of any software designed to modify the internal software of any video game console, but do you believe there is just cause for hacking an entertainment device? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
