Gone are the days of only the big names having their own game engine it seems. Cheaper, user-friendly game engines have seen a rise in popularity in the last few years, with the release of Unreal and Unity inspiring many developers to create their own customized tool set for developers to get their hands on for many different operating systems. The creators of Leadwerks have followed in this example, and released a version of the game design software for Steam, following a successful release on Windows and Mac.
According to the creators: “Leadwerks is a powerful and easy-to-use game engine for building any kind of 3D game. With a rapid development pipeline, Lua script integration, plenty of learning materials, and a royalty-free license, Leadwerks is the perfect way to make 3D games that look and feel amazing. Get started today making your own 3D games for Steam.”
If you would like to see more about this version of the software, be sure to visit the official Steam page of Leadwerks. It’s cheap by engine standards but it will still set you back £75 though.
