Terminal Reality Closes Down

The Texas-based studio Terminal Reality have reportedly closed down. They first opened their doors back in 1995, with their first game titled ‘Terminal Velocity’ coming out on DOS and Windows. Since then, the studio has gone on to develop Bloodrayne, Ghostbuster: The Video Game, and The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

While the majority of their games weren’t met with much critical, or financial success, they were just shy of staying in the industry for 20 years. The news was reported by Eurogamer after ex-Terminal Reality Jesse Sosa posted this on Facebook:

“For those that have known me for a long time know that I was at TRI for 10 years. TRI seems to have finally shut down. A lot of different emotions are passing through me at the moment. I left there when I saw things going downhill but I have always kept up with them and hoped for the best. Now that they’re gone, I’m just kind of feeling nostalgic it seems. I hope they all land on their feet. Most of those guys are still like family to me. I know a good amount are on their way to Austin, so at least I’ll be seeing them soon.”

There has been no official word from Terminal Reality themselves yet. Their official site is “under construction”, and offers no hint to the status of the studio. If the news is true, we would like to extend our sympathies to all of those out of a job, and wish them luck into the future.

What do you think? Have you played any of the studios back catalog? Let us know in the comments.
